Market surveillance authorities supervise real-world testing to ensure it follows the AI Act, checking compliance where testing sits within a regulatory sandbox. On learning of a serious incident or unmet conditions, they may suspend or end a test or demand changes, stating reasons and how the decision can be challenged. They may relax certain testing conditions in appropriate cases, and must notify authorities in other Member States where the same test ran.
