PLAIN-LANGUAGE SUMMARY — ORIGINAL INTERPRETATION, NOT THE OFFICIAL TEXT
General EU market-surveillance rules apply to AI systems, and each Member State's designated authority polices compliance, reporting yearly on prohibited practices and competition-relevant findings. Sectoral authorities take precedence for Annex I products, financial regulators supervise systems used in those services, and data protection authorities cover law enforcement, migration, justice and democracy uses. Authorities may demand full access to documentation and training, validation and testing data, remotely if needed, and to source code only as a last resort.
