PLAIN-LANGUAGE SUMMARY — ORIGINAL INTERPRETATION, NOT THE OFFICIAL TEXT

A conformity assessment body that shows it meets harmonised standards whose references appear in the EU's Official Journal is presumed to satisfy the corresponding requirements for notified bodies. This presumption reaches only as far as those published standards actually cover the requirements. Requirements left untouched by the standards still call for separate proof of compliance.
