PLAIN-LANGUAGE SUMMARY — ORIGINAL INTERPRETATION, NOT THE OFFICIAL TEXT

High-risk AI systems must be built to log events automatically across their lifetime. The logging must give traceability suited to the system's purpose, helping identify situations that could create risk or a substantial change, supporting post-market monitoring, and enabling deployer oversight. For remote biometric identification systems, the logs must at minimum capture each use period, the reference database checked, the input data that produced a match, and who verified the results.
