PLAIN-LANGUAGE SUMMARY — ORIGINAL INTERPRETATION, NOT THE OFFICIAL TEXT

The AI Office encourages Union-level codes of practice that help general-purpose AI model providers meet their obligations, covering documentation upkeep, training-content summaries and the assessment and management of systemic risks. Providers, authorities, civil society and experts may contribute. The Office and the Board judge whether a code is adequate, and the Commission may approve one for general validity. Codes were due by 2 May 2025; if none proved workable, the Commission can instead impose common rules by implementing act.
