PLAIN-LANGUAGE SUMMARY — ORIGINAL INTERPRETATION, NOT THE OFFICIAL TEXT

The European Data Protection Supervisor may fine Union institutions, bodies, offices and agencies that breach the AI Act. Penalties reach up to EUR 1.5 million for prohibited practices and up to EUR 750,000 for other violations. Before setting an amount, the supervisor weighs the breach's gravity and duration, the body's responsibility and safeguards, any mitigation, cooperation, prior infringements, and the institution's annual budget.
