PLAIN-LANGUAGE SUMMARY — ORIGINAL INTERPRETATION, NOT THE OFFICIAL TEXT

The AI Office and Member States encourage voluntary codes of conduct applying high-risk-style requirements to systems that are not high-risk, and encourage codes applying other good practices to all AI systems, including by deployers, against clear objectives and indicators. Codes may address ethics, environmental sustainability, AI literacy, inclusive design, and impacts on vulnerable groups. Providers, deployers or their representative bodies may draw them up, with civil-society and academic input. Participation is entirely optional.
