COMPETENT AUTHORITY

ANACOM announced as supervisory authority and SPOC

The Portuguese government announced on 19 September 2025 that ANACOM (the national communications authority) will be the AI Act supervisory and market-surveillance authority and single point of contact, coordinating with sectoral regulators including Banco de Portugal, ASF and CMVM. Portugal missed the 2 August 2025 deadline, the notifying authority has not been identified, and Portugal is not yet on the Commission's notified list.

Member States designate their notifying authority and market-surveillance authority under Article 70; the Commission publishes the consolidated single-point-of-contact list. Designation across the Union remains uneven — we track each state's status rather than presenting a uniform picture that does not exist.
