COMPETENT AUTHORITY

Consumer Rights Protection Centre (PTAC) as single point of contact; ~12 sectoral MSAs

Latvia appears on the Commission's notified list with the Consumer Rights Protection Centre (Patērētāju tiesību aizsardzības centrs) as its market-surveillance contact. Latvia adopted a decentralised model with around twelve sectoral market-surveillance authorities — including the Health Inspectorate, the Civil Aviation Agency, the Road Traffic Safety Directorate and the Data State Inspectorate — with the Ministry of Economics proposed as notifying authority.

Member States designate their notifying authority and market-surveillance authority under Article 70; the Commission publishes the consolidated single-point-of-contact list. Designation across the Union remains uneven — we track each state's status rather than presenting a uniform picture that does not exist.
